Boards and Commissions

Exists to improve the quality of life for state women. Our main goal is to give women the information they need to better their lives, and the skills they need to become advocates for themselves.
 
Commission for the Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing
Serves as a communication bridge between hearing persons and those who are deaf or hard of hearing.
 
Developmental Disabilities Council
Founded to assure that West Virginians with developmental disabilities receive the services and supports they need in order to achieve independence, productivity and inclusion in their communities.
 
James "Tiger" Morton Catastrophic Illness Commission
Created during the 1999 regular session of the West Virginia Legislature, the Commission acts as a last resort for those in dire need of medical assistance once all other resources are exhausted.
 
Human Rights Commission
The West Virginia Human Rights Commission is mandated to enforce and implement the WV Human Rights Act, the WV Fair Housing Act and the WV Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. 
 
Commission to Study Residential Placement of Children
The Commission to Study Residential Placement of Children was created by an act of the 2005 Legislature (HB 2334) to achieve systematic reform for youth at risk of out-of-home residential placement and to establish an integrated system of care for these youth and their families. 
 
Family Protection Services
The Family Protection Services Board is a group of committed citizens appointed by the Governor of the State of West Virginia. The mission of the Family Protection Services Board is to assure that programs working toward the elimination of domestic violence are adequately funded and provide quality services to victims.
