Non-Emergency Transportation Gas Mileage Change

5/2/2017

  • The gas mileage reimbursement rate for non-emergency transportation (NEMT) will be reduced from 54 cents to 47 cents per mile for all trips made on or after June 1, 2017.
  • The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR), Bureau for Medical Services (BMS) agreed to the rate change requested by the NEMT broker, MTM, since the vendor has agreed to a no cost extension of the current contract during the re-procurement of the NEMT contact.
  • This returns the mileage reimbursement to the rate that was in effect at the time the initial contract was awarded in 2014.
  •  MTM provided notice to Medicaid members/providers currently utilizing mileage reimbursement and posted notice on their website during the month of May.
