Zoonotic Diseases

The Zoonotic Disease Program collaborates with local health departments in West Virginia to prevent, investigate, and control zoonotic diseases.  Zoonotic diseases are diseases of animals that can be transmitted to humans. Zoonotic diseases can be caused by bacteria, viruses, and parasites. Rabies and West Nile virus are examples of zoonotic diseases.
