There are many other infectious diseases which can be transmitted from animals to humans that do not fit into mosquito-borne or tick-borne categories. The conditions on this page represent diseases that are transmitted primarily from direct or indirect contact with an infected animal but are not transmitted through a mosquito, tick or other vector. Most of these diseases are very rare and reports are infrequent.
