Preventing Cancer by Increasing HPV Vaccination

This program will provide up-to-date information regarding the prevalence of HPV-related disease in the United States, including data on increasing rates of HPV-related oropharyngeal cancers. Current ACIP recommendations for HPV vaccination will be reviewed, along with recommendations for the use of 9-valent HPV vaccine. Providers will learn strategies for discussing HPV vaccination with patients and office staff, and will leave being able to give a strong, well-informed recommendation for the HPV vaccine along with the Tdap and meningococcal vaccines at age 11-12.

    By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
  1. Describe the prevalence and impact of HPV-related disease
  2. Discuss ACIP recommendations for HPV vaccination, including recommendations for the use of 9-valent HPV vaccine
  3. Identify best practices for improving HPV vaccination rates
  4. Express a strong recommendation for HPV vaccination at age 11-12.
