Parents Reminded to Have Their Child's Shot Record Reviewed
August is National Immuization Awareness Month and the West Virginia Division of Immunization Services is reminding parents that now is a great time to have their child's shot record reviewed by their healthcare provider or local health department as the new school year begins. Children may be missing booster doses or shots that are recommended for adolescents or teens. National Immunization Awareness Month is a great time for that immunization check-up.

Parents of children that need immunization that are uninsured or underinsured may receive vaccine at no charge to the parent through the Vaccines for Children program. Children that receive medicaid or WVCHIP may also receive state-supplied vaccine.
