WV Pharmacists Expand Immunization
WV Pharmacists expand immunizations to include most all adult vaccines
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources Division of Immunization Services (DIS) announced today that pharmacists may now offer shingles, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (whooping cough) known as Tdap, in addition to influenza and pneumococcal vaccines.
The recent changes to the Immunizations Administered by Pharmacists rule will allow greater accessibility to immunizations for WV adults. Adults desiring vaccination at a local pharmacy should speak with the pharmacist about cost, insurance coverage and clinic times.
To learn more about the newly added vaccines that pharmacists in West Virginia may offer, go to www.immunization.wv.gov or call your local pharmacy. Questions may be directed to Toby Wagoner, public information officer at (304) 356-4042.
