Smoke-Free Initiative

Smoke-Free Initiative The Smoke-Free Initiative of West Virginia and the West Virginia Division of Tobacco Prevention work to educate everyone about the dangers of secondhand smoke. We also help to protect non-smokers by advocating policies and regulations requiring smoke-free environments in all work sites and public places.

Exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke is a common and significant hazard in West Virginia. Breathing secondhand smoke has been shown to cause or contribute to many serious health conditions. Appropriate smoke-free policies can entirely eliminate the hazards associated with secondhand smoke.
